ABOUT
Welcome to Caroline Harris Photography

School was followed by two years at College in London. Photography was very much part of the curriculum in my Graphic Design and Advertising course. Here I had the opportunity to really learn and think about composition. On the technical side I also found myself in the very dark, dark room printing colour pictures.
By this time I was using my own Film SLR camera. Art college was followed by two years living in Crete. The light in the Mediterranean is so strong, colours seem saturated, lines cleaner and forms stronger. I took hundreds of pictures when I was there in the 1980's but I wish I'd known then, what I know now.
Then I got lazy. After a break from SLR in favour of a more straightforward happy-snappy approach to photography, I have recently rediscovered my love for this medium and entered the digital world of SLR photography.
There were huge gaps in my skills and knowledge so to try and close some of them up I started a Photography course last year, at my local College. I enjoyed the course very much and was tickled pink when I was awarded the City And Guilds Student of the Year. I am constantly trying to stretch myself and learn new things. The course certainly taught me a thing or two. In addition to this I am extremely fortunate to have some very, very talented friends whose advice and kind words of encouragement, have helped me enormously. Their guidance has given me the confidence to go out and try new styles and subjects. I now find myself looking at the world through a virtual view finder. Looking to seize every photographic opportunity that comes my way.
The best advice I've had so far was from a wonderfully talented Ocean Photographer. He told me to remember that, 'Photography is an art, not a science'.
I now live in Eccleshall, Staffordshire. And can often be seen in and around the local area taking pictures.
I hope you enjoy my site and if you have any questions or comments you wish to make please do not hesitate to contact me.
Many thanks for your interest.
