Today was also a very exciting day for me. I assisted Stephen Sutton www.stephensutton.co.uk at a wedding. It was the first time I have had the opportunity to work with a professional photographer, and I had a blast. I was using his Nikon camera which was a little alien to me, but I think the pictures turned out reasonably well, considering. I was really nervous beforehand. Loads of pressure to make sure you capture all the photographic opportunities on someone's special day. It was really good to witness Steve at work. I was very impressed with his organisation, his professionalism, the way he interacted with the couple and all the guests. My thanks to Steve for this wonderful opportunity and hopefully this will be the first of many.

I went to Focus 2008 at the NEC in Birmingham today. It was a really good day. The highlight of the day was meeting David Ward, Joe Cornish and Charlie Waite.

A little while ago I received an email from the marketing Department at Clikpic, the host company of this website. The email was sent to let me know they had selected my website to be included in their magazine advertising for the next six to twelve months. I am very flattered to be asked and I have some excellent photographers to keep me company.
The advertisements started to appear in photography magazines this month.

Improving the day job Previously my day job held little in the way of creative opportunities but I have now secured myself a place on the Approved Photographers List for my employer. This means that from time to time, I will be able to venture from the office to take pictures for their Image Library. Yesterday was my first assignment, and hopefully there will be more to come.

Labour Of Love I have recently completed a commission to take some maternity shots for a couple who contacted me through my website. The photographs were very different from everything else I had done to date, but I really enjoyed taking and finishing them. I am delighted to say the couple are very happy with their images and their beautiful baby boy made his debut last Tuesday. Congratulations!

It's been a pretty exciting day today. I took the afternoon off work and went to collect eleven pictures I have had mounted for a small exhibition. It's the first time I've ever shown my pictures in public, except on the net of course. So, we'll see what the locals think. The pictures are on display at The Coffee Cellar, Madford Park, Greyfiars, Stafford. Please drop me a line if you require any further details.

It's here at last. Tomorrow I set off for a Photosafari in South West France. The course I am doing is lead by Fine Art Ocean Photographer JONATHAN CHRITCHLEY. He has five days to teach me everything he knows, and if he does, I should return to the UK, a photographic genius! :) You can find a link to Jonathan's Ocean Capture Adventures on my links page.

I went to get my copy of OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY today. I don't currently subscribe to this magazine but I do read it regularly. A few weeks ago I sent them a letter following an article they featured about photographing poppies. At the week end I heard that they had printed my letter! Not only did they print it, along with two pictures I'd sent, but they made it the Prize Letter and there is a very nice Giottos tripod on its way to Eccleshall.
Many thanks to Keith Wilson. It really was a superb suprise.

When I finished my College Course I was undecided on where exactly to go next with my photography. I didn't have to ponder for long! The day after I received my results I was asked by WHAT DIGITAL CAMERA magazine if I was interested in having some of my work featured in their magazine. This is the first time my work has been published. I can't begin to describe how excited I am about it. Many thanks to Nigel Atherton and Paul Nuttall. The edition featuring my pictures will be on the shelves from September 7th.

I received my Certificate for my City and Guilds Course in the post today.
After nervously opening it, I was delighted to find I had passed with Distinctions for all three assignments.

Today was my last day of my City and Guilds Course at Stafford College. I've handed my project to my Tutors together with the thirty pictures I've taken for the three modules. It will be assessed by my Course Tutor before being marked by an external assessor.
In return they gave me an award for being the City and Guilds Student of the Year. When I started the course in September last year it was something I really wanted to do for myself, and something I wanted to do well. I was just tickled pink to receive this accolade.
